DIET, DaISY Market Place Day – 6th June 2013

Defence Implications of Emerging Technologies (DIET), Data Intensive Systems (DaISY) market place day took place on the 6th June, 2013. This was an event organised by DSTL and it brought together the various projects funded under the DaISY call. This includes the EMOTIVE project, where our team has developed a novel approach for fine-grained extraction of emotion expression, in sparse, informal social-media stream types of messages, in order to map emotions in the UK in social-media monitoring tasks.

The EMOTIVE project was one of the very few projects selected for presentation on the day (presentation is available here). Posters and demos during the event provided a good opportunity for further networking and exchange of ideas. There was some interesting work within social-media monitoring relevant applications, and all in all, the day was a great success and we hope that similar events will take place in the future.
